Planning Tools
Homework is a way of life for a college student, so now is a good time to hone those study skills.
Good planning now will help you move through the application process more smoothly. You’ll also gain confidence as you organize your resources and time. Here are a few planning tools to get you started:
1. Cost is the biggest perceived barrier to college. Overcome your fear by learning the facts. Use the Itemized Monthly Budget: Master Worksheet to assess your financial situation and needs. This information will also help you as you prepare to complete information for financial aid, scholarships, and other tuition assistance.
2. Finding time in your busy schedule for school can be daunting. Use the Daily Task Worksheet to really analyze your schedule. This exercise can not only help you compartmentalize and better plan your time, but is also a tool to inform others of your commitments.
3. Organizing all the admissions paperwork can be time consuming and tricky. Use the Admissions Check List to help you get things together. Keep names and notes for easy follow-up. You never know when something may get lost, so recording information can save you a lot of time and trouble down the road.
4. It’s all about you, so get the information you need to choose the right school and program to meet your needs. Use the Questionnaire to learn about a school's history, accreditation, program otions, services, the student experience, job placement rates, and more. Remember, you’re making a BIG commitment and your success may depend on how well the school performs to your expectations.
